Captain's Log, Post Mortem Report
[20240927_1121] Investing in a mud expert to impart their
pottery knowledge yielded no tangible results. High-temperature
ceramicists would have been appalled by the standards we witnessed,
especially with the porous clay that was loaded with gas.
Our house
was unprotected from the thunder's impact. It often felt like a giant
stomping on the roof or a solid thud. Thunderstorms (@1000-1100m above sea
level) were significant and volatile in this region. This piece, along
with the artwork used in the background, captures an account of
The Four Horsemen weather phenomena that
occurred on this parcel of land. It was a thunder-like shockwave that
approached the house, yet there was never any lightning crack before it
arrived.
There was no way to discern what this phenomena was, as we
had never experienced anything like it before. It was just a deep rumble
that grew louder and vibrated as it approached the home. It felt like an
invisible forcefield passing through, causing the contents of the house to
shimmer and vibrate. I could feel the force passing through my body. The
experience was similar to the shake of a light earthquake, but it felt
more like an above-ground earth rake, reminiscent of the expanding
shockwave rim of a nuclear explosion. That's why it was named
The Four Horsemen, because of it sounded like
a new wave type of Armageddon that was approaching.
The rumble was
frightening due to the scale of the impact, but I grew accustomed to it as
a characteristic of the land. With no other dwellings in the area, there
was nothing to brace or dampen the impact of the thunder against the
house. The sound of thunder rumbles were unusually prolonged in this area,
lasting over a minute & travelled great distances.
I was painting
the picture of this phenomenon during the time of this mud patty class.
Memory of the residual stain, is not pleasant. It captured The Rampur of
the Romper Stomper Room. NB ~ «pur»
often signalling a «place» or
«city»
in many South Asian languages
We tried. It didn't potter-pan out. They way they
smeared the name was blatant.
