The Sympathy Olympics | Glass Mushroom Smoke

for sympathetic ears
at the game'/s lux'urificationment
the «see my perspective» olympics would-be-here
the sound of a trespassing vehicle
intruding my yon again
towards me again
tranquil'ifying-i-am, from the silence that follows
with exception for the flies though
disrupting the air with their wings
sand, at the patriarch's ash place bucket
trying to keep a frankincense stick standing upgright
but the distance is too far
my redskin'ed smoke signals are not able to reach it

Classified as another Ezgi, which is a narrative of my time in the bush. It was a memory of remote living and the heightened sensitivity to trespass by vehicles, alongside the persistent buzz of flies that were a part of the land's orchestra.

Cultural Heritage Link
The piece incorporates a cultural heritage element tied to my father. Incense sticks were used in a summer ritual he performed outdoors to repel mosquitoes, while he was smoking. This ritual, was called «uç uç» (fly fly) - which was playfully hinting at 'get high', in reference to both the practical and spiritual aspects of burning incense or smoking mushrooms.

It was an exploration of distance and communication, reflecting on personal heritage and the broader theme of trying to connect through smoke signals, despite physical and metaphorical barriers. It's important to take note of how Multiple Sclerosis tried to make an appearance in this one, for the neuro link.
